Description
About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Analytics Engineer to own the analytics and data modeling layer of our data platform.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys building reliable data models, defining metrics, and creating high-quality BI - while also working closely with a part-time Data Engineer to shape and prioritize data pipelines.
You will be the owner of the data layer - responsible for how data is structured, modeled, and used across the company.
Responsibilities
- Own the data model: design and maintain clean, well-structured models (dbt) that serve as the foundation for all analytics
- Build and maintain business-critical dashboards in Sigma (Product, Finance, Executive, etc.)
- Define and standardize core business metrics (revenue, usage, product KPIs)
- Translate business needs into scalable data models, not just one-off queries
- Work closely with stakeholders (Product, Finance, Sales, R&D) to understand needs — and challenge / refine requests when needed
- Define and prioritize work for the Data Engineer (pipelines, data sources, logging improvements)
- Collaborate on improving data quality, reliability, and trust
- Write advanced SQL and own transformations in Snowflake (bronze/silver/gold layers)
- Support ad-hoc analysis when needed - but within a structured, model-first approach
What This Role Is (and Isn’t)
- This is a data ownership + building role, not a pure analysis role
- ~60–70% data modeling, BI, and ownership
- ~30–40% analysis and stakeholder support
- You will define what gets built, not just respond to tickets
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in Analytics Engineering / BI / Data roles
- Strong SQL skills - ability to design and optimize complex transformations
- Proven experience building and maintaining data models (dbt or similar)
- Experience working with a modern data warehouse (Snowflake preferred)
- Strong experience with BI tools (Sigma, Tableau, Looker, etc.)
- Experience working with or guiding Data Engineers / pipelines
- Ability to work independently and take full ownership of the data layer
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with non-technical stakeholders
Strong Plus
- Experience with Sigma Computing
- Familiarity with Airflow / orchestration tools
- Experience in SaaS / product analytics environments
- Experience defining metrics and improving data consistency across teams
